Do you want to own all front end technology, and the team, for one of the fastest growing startups in London? Do you want to solve high complex engineering problems simplifying one of the most complex advertising practices for non-technical users?

A position has become available in arguably London's strong Adtech startup for a leader in the development of JavaScript applications on the Front End to be the driving force for all projects in a business with a global impact.

As the successful Lead Front End Engineer you will join a team that are heavily funded, boast an engineering pedigree that competes with anyone and have a global customer base including some of the most recognisable consumer brands in the world. As the businesses authority for all Front end projects you will own architecture, design and the technology road map as the business scales rapidly to deliver the features that will continue, or improve on, their meteoric rise and future proof the company in a highly competitive industry thwart with complex technical problems to solve every day.

The role would suit someone with a background leading the creation of complex, cloud based, JavaScript applications for the web. They currently use Angular 1.5, D3, HTML5, SASS and WebPack however it will be your job to define a roadmap that ensures they remain a leader, so whether this means moving to Angular 2, ReactJS, Aurelia or even staying with Angular 1.5 for now, or going straight vanilla JavaScript, that decision will be yours to make. You must be able to drive excellence into a product, and a team, through instilling engineering best practices that bread quality and get the best out of people. A test first culture, clear problem definition before making any move on a feature and an understanding of modern automated development practices (e.g. the DevOps movement) in general should all be things you are a passionate advocate for.

Whilst we'd love you to have knowledge of Angular, or everything else for that matter, this role is really about being the hands on driving force for a highly talented team. As long as you can demonstrate you understand the nuances between frameworks, how they work, what they are good for, you are happy to work with Angular in the short to medium term and do whatever is best for team, and business, we definitely would like to hear from you. Yes, we expect you to be an expert in modern approaches to mobile first design (BEM, SMACSS) and have a deep knowledge of the tech that powers this (HTML, CSS, SASS, LESS) but the key here is definitely JavaScript.

Opportunities here are huge. Firstly, just the technical challenge faced with taking a supremely complex task and simplifying it to a point where almost no technical knowledge is needed to tackle it is exciting for any engineer. Secondly, this role offers the chance to be fundamental in the development of a product, team and business, that some of the largest, and most high profile, consumer brands in the world rely on to get the most out of advertising budgets that can run into the billions.
