Engineering Manager - Mechanical Test Equipment|
to£70,000 + benefits including pension, life assurance, 25 days, sick pay
A reputable and leading international manufacturer with a turnover in excess of $2 billion specialising in high value motion control equipment for the Automotive and Aerospace industries currently requires the services of an experienced degree qualified Test Equipment Manager to manage a team of 20 engineers and all associated production and development test equipment.
To effectively manage the Test Equipment function and empower to deliver cutting-edge technology to Customers.
To fulfil this role the candidate will be an ideal team player, working closely with the Chief Engineer and their management team to define and implement group strategy.
To create an environment where the Test Equipment Project Engineers can efficiently develop, realise, deploy and release effective and high performance testing solutions to meet customer requirements.
To co-ordinate regular project reviews and management oversight of the team during a projects lifecycle phases including: proposal, design, detail design, manufacture, assembly and test; this will lead to the deployment of a broad spectrum of development and assembly and test equipment. The specified equipment may be used for full scale development, qualification, airworthiness, safety of flight or production testing of servo valve products within the company. Alternatively, the equipment may be sold directly to customers for use in overhaul, performance testing and engineering evaluation of complex aircraft systems.
To accomplish this, the candidate must be sensitive to the often competing objectives of the company's primary customers: development engineering, production and global support.
You will ideally be experienced in the design and development of test equipment for systems testing for both development and production test equipment. Typical systems will involve hydraulic, electronic, mechanical and software systems testing mainly in relation to motion control equipment. You will be responsible for a team of 20+ engineers and capable of identifying strengths within the team, change management and encouraging the collaboration between other members and companies within the group.

You will lead, motivate and continually challenge a multi-disciplinary team encompassing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic and electronics engineers to achieve company goals.
To be considered you will be degree qualified in a related engineering discipline and have extensive experience working within a system test environment ideally within the aerospace or automotive industry or an environment involving Hydraulic, Software, Electronic and mechanical systems.
