Job Title: Senior Engineer - Traffic|
Reporting to: Traffic Team Leader
Job Purpose (brief description of role):
To ensure the Traffic Signs Asset in Area 9 is maintained in a good condition. This will be achieved by analyzing the sign inspection data to identify signs at or reaching the end of their serviceable life. To then prepare reports to take to Value Management to obtain funding for renewal of the asset, then to design sign schemes for delivery.
Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:
•Oversee analysis of sign inspection data.
•Liaise with Sign Inspection Manager on future sign inspection routes
•Identify schemes for renewal of the signs asset based on condition assessment.
•Prepare Value Management reports and attend VM meetings with the client.
•Prepare a forward programme of signing schemes to ensure the sign asset is maintained.
•Undertake/oversee the design of signing schemes including preparation of Bills of Quantities and obtaining commercial estimates.
•Preparation of Pre Construction Information Packs.
•Attend regular meetings with Kier and Client regarding the signs asset.
•Ensure clients sign asset database is updated
•Review and update Signs Asset Management Plan as required.
•Action Watchman's relating to the sign asset.
•Ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety and CDM procedures
•Supervise staff within the team as appropriate
Typical Skills/Experience as follows:
•Experience of traffic sign design
•Preparation and writing of reports
•Taking off of quantities
•Experienced in use of computer software for data entry and report writing.
•Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
•Ability to work independently and within a team.
Desirable but not essential
•Experience of Highways England Value Management process.
•Membership of an appropriate professional institution
•A current UK full driving license is desirable for the role as site visits/attendance at meetings will be required
