Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an exciting position in our sunny Orlando, Florida location. We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer who will technically contribute to the Consolidated Product line Management Next (CPM Next) contract. You will be a part of the development of next generation military command and control (C2) training environments using Modeling and Simulation. In this role you will:
  • Contribute to detailed domain analysis of the Live Training Transformation (LT2) infrastructure, to support life cycle management as the foundation to provide Training as a Service (TaaS)
  • Perform or lead activities in the Live/Virtual/Constructive (LVC) and Live Training Engagement Composition (LTEC) domains to include Interoperability requirements, designs and implementations, as required to support the LT2 Product Line
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Provide resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
  • May supervise or manage lower level employees
  • Lead technical tasks for medium teams or projects
  • Lead small technical proposals and contribute to medium-sized proposals
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Guide the successful completion of major programs and projects
  • Conduct feasibility studies and test new and modified designs
  • Perform or lead customer requirements analysis, develop system requirements and define allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
  • Contribute to detailed technical analyses at the system-of-system (SOS) level
  • Synthesize solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints
  • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Provide engineering support to proposals
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in software engineering, a related technical field or the equivalent experience is required. Advanced degree preferred. In addition, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is required, 15 years of relevant experience preferred. Travel may be required Security clearance may be required Works under consultative direction on predetermined long range objectives Assignments may be self-initiated Works on unusually complex

The individual must be able to travel 20% of the time. An active U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required at the time of hire. Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
