Job Description:

Position: Operations Supervisor​​ Industry: Hostel/Hotel​ Reports To: Management​

Position Overview: The Operations Supervisor shall manage all aspects of the Hostel; including but not limited to day-to-day operations, budgeting, planning, staff hiring and payroll reporting in accordance with our current hostel policies and procedures. Duties & Responsibilities​ 1. Supervise and monitor activities of all employees of the Hostel, making sure there is clear communication, and that staff adhere to our standards of excellence; and to the guidelines set out in the operations manual. 2. Maintain a professional, high quality, customer service oriented environment at all times. 3. As Operations Supervisor, you shall handle all customer complaints and disturbances that may arise, as well as any other issues that may require your attention in this capacity. 4. Inform all staff of daily activities/tasks, group and VIP arrivals, as well as repeat guests. Check accommodations, make sure any special requests are noted and carried out accordingly, greet guests upon arrival and ensure they are directed to their booked accommodations as appropriate. 5. Undertake full responsibility for Staff Scheduling and reporting of Payroll information, new hires, hours and vacation time to our accountant. 6. Undertake full responsibility for managing operating expenses, cash register and purchasing for the Hostel. 7. Participate in developing our budget, as you shall be responsible for Profit & Loss throughout the year. 8. Work closely with the Housekeeping Department to improve guest services and foster cross departmental communication. 9. Coordinate activities with hostel staff on a daily basis. 10. Hold monthly department meetings keeping staff informed of all activities in the hostel, reinforcing Standards of Excellence and promoting a strong team atmosphere and culture. 11. Provide leadership and staff support where and when required. 12. Be aware of, and able to enforce all fire-life-safety procedures. Remain current in all updates with regards to new procedures and training. Ensure staff is fully trained in emergency procedures. This position is a member of the hotel's emergency response team. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each duty to a satisfactory standard. We are looking for a candidate with a positive, pro-active approach to his/her daily duties and responsibilities. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required: Education: High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent required. College degree preferred. Experience: Previous Front Office experience in supervisory/management capacity in a hotel/hostel property required. Previous customer service and general computer experience required. Supervisory Responsibilities: Previously responsible for supervision and training of employees. Language Skills: Excellent knowledge of the English language is mandatory as well as the ability to speak, read and write clearly. Must be able to listen to, read and/or write instructions, memos, short correspondences and messages. Second language preferred.
