Job Description:

The role: The Financial Analyst will be the primary back-up to the Inventory Accounting Manager. As a designated accountant you will be well positioned to work with cross-departmental teams to problem solve issues relating to: warehouse gross margin & inventory levels; investigating unusual cycle counts, transfers and purchase transactions; inventory cost issues; and the annual warehouse and store physical counts. This position will work with various groups including store operations, merchandising & IT and will play a key role in supporting the Inventory Accounting Manager on issues and new projects as they arise. What you will do: Month-end analysis, reporting and journal entry preparation, including: Wholesale/retail margin report preparation Intercompany profit and excess inventory analysis Review and analyze margin and inventory shrink monthly Reconcile GL inventory to sub ledger at period end Reconcile product load factor accounts (duty, packaging, freight etc.) Various month-end reporting Facilitate, review and modify key MS Access queries for analysis purposes Monitor store inventory levels, track store cycle counts, identify and follow up on unusual transactions Prepare annual provincial stewardship reports and manage internal procedures around data integrity Play a key role in warehouse counts, preparation, variance analysis and final count uploads Report and analyze annual store counts, upload results and track count status Prepare inventory roll back/forward and other year-end audit requirements Support production of quarterly damage claims and analysis Assist in daily posting for store and warehouse transactions on an as needed basis Play a key role in inventory analysis and support the merchandising group, store operations and IT on an as needed basis Assist on ad hoc projects as required What you will need to succeed: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance CPA designation 3-5 years analysis experience Previous experience with month-end processes (reconciliations, accruals and journal entries) Previous experience in retail environments or exposure to inventory analysis desirable Strong skills with MS Access and MS Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables) Accounting and financial analysis skills Exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, an asset Excellent organizational and problem solving skills Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Able to work well independently and as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Candidates will be asked to complete testing to confirm proficiency in the above skills.
