Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Global Imaging Technologies (GDGIT) is seeking a Senior Machinist for their manufacturing site located in San Diego, CA. The Senior Machinist performs tasks on manual machines including but not limited to Manual Mills, Lathes, Band Saws, grinders and others. Fully proficient and able to perform all responsibilities of the position. Sets appropriate objectives and meets commitments. The Senior Machinist will set up, maintain machines, and perform visual inspections on assigned parts according to written procedures and drawings. Typically the Senior Machinist will be proficient in 3 to 4 machining tasks. Multi product family.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Able to operate multiple machines
  • Able to interpret blue prints
  • Use of advanced MT&E
  • Performs intermittent set ups
  • Intermediate machining knowledge
  • Collecting measurement data
  • Able to perform intermediate math calculations
  • Performs intermediate maintenance such as belt changes or tensioning, oil changes
  • Operates honing machine
  • Performs secondary operations such as deburr or finishing
  • Basic product and machine troubleshooting

Basic Qualifications:

The Senior Machinist position requires an AA Degree or equivalent education.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience machining parts in a similar manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work specifications
  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, etc
  • Must be available to work overtime as necessary to meet production schedules

Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
