Principal Engineer (Regulatory Compliance and Interface)
Would you like to manage the team responsible for maintaining the nuclear licenses which are essential to ensure BAE Systems can continue to operate as the supplier of nuclear powered submarines to the MOD? BAE Systems is looking for a Principal Engineer - Regulatory Compliance and Interface to join us in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.
As a Principal Engineer, you will be managing a team in the Nuclear Safety Regulation Department, responsible for ensuring that BAE Systems maintains its licenses to work with nuclear material.
You will also be ensuring that BAE Systems' employees and teams adhere to the necessarily strict processes and policies put in place to ensure that the health and safety of all staff, and the wider community, are not put at risk.
As a Principal Engineer (Regulatory Compliance and Interface) your main responsibilities will include:
Manage the team providing specialist advice to the wider business on nuclear safety related issues
Manage the arrangements to track and review changes to licence conditions, authorisation conditions, permit requirements, and other related legislation and regulation
Managing and advising on the processes and framework in place to demonstrate compliance with all nuclear safety considerations and related environmental issues
Managing the delivery, maintenance, and storage of key documentation supporting licenses, authorisations, and permits
Developing and mentoring other members of the team
Representing the company at external nuclear regulation meetings, and at the company's internal committees and authorisation groups
Interfacing with external regulatory authorities such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation
Providing guidance on the company's contractual and statutory obligations
As a Principal Engineer (Regulatory Compliance and Interface) your skills and qualifications must include:
Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM related discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
Previous experience working in nuclear industry, and knowledge of associated regulatory framework
Experience liaising with regulatory bodies
Demonstrable aptitude for leading and developing others
Knowledge of safety cases
Experience with quality management systems
