What is the purpose of the role?
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in Quantity Surveying. You will join an established commercial team and be given the opportunity to progress all the way through to becoming a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. In this role you will be giving expert commercial advice to your operational colleagues to deliver efficient operational delivery. This role is fast paced and reactive as you will be working alongside our repair and maintenance operational team to maintain our assets and deliver great customer service.
You will be a part of highly professional Quantity Surveying team empowered to make decisions and responsible for all commercial aspects related to maintaining a vast sewer network. This role offers the opportunity to carry out a diverse role with wide range of Quantity Surveying aspects from measurements on site to dispute resolutions and work closely with our contractors. This is a unique role which offers you the opportunity to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. The team has a very successful structured APC training programme with a support network of a number of Chartered Quantity Surveyors, RICS APC assessors and colleagues studying to become MRICS.
This role will involve:
Assisting the Quantity Surveyor with all commercial aspects including:
Assessing applications for payment.
Procurement of works packages.
Advising operational colleagues.
We are looking for someone who is degree level educated (or equivalent) but not necessarily in Quantity Surveying. Practical quantity surveying skills or work experience is beneficial, although not essential. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, or an aptitude and willingness to develop them, are important. Dedication and a willingness to learn and develop are vital to success within this role. This is a very fast paced role, hence it requires someone who can take ownership of events, think on their feet, devise a plan of action and implement effective solutions. You are the kind of person who takes ownership and pride in your work. The ideal candidate will have the potential to develop the gravitas to communicate with senior management whilst also being able to advise on individual site based projects.
This role is based at Mogden Sewage Treatment Works, near Twickenham, Middlesex. We are offering a salary of up to £26,000, depending on skills and experience, plus a range of benefits including an excellent contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, season ticket loans and paid volunteering days.
