This is an exciting opportunity to influence the Civil & Structural Team in Peterborough providing support to the Anglian Water Region as well as across the wider UK area in the delivery of innovative project solutions.  

Managing, coaching and developing their team, ensuring the work of the team is of the required quality and completed in a timely manner. Solutions development. Ensure projects are developing the correct solutions technically and commercially during optioneering. Identify necessary business and project risk. Provide design challenge to all schemes as necessary to ensure value solutions are provided. Challenge and question MAS and standard products to improve and clarify.  



  • Review/Approve all ‘D’ and ‘C’ status drawings prior to issue. (Not technical review)

  • Peer review all schemes prior to relevant Gateways.

  • Direct the engineering team in considering how each element of the design impacts and affects process performance, operability maintainability and cost, both capital and operational.

  • Product Development / Innovation. Identify and develop design or construction innovations. Review/approve all relevant product development documents prior to issue to ASF.

  • Resource review meetings. Manage civil engineering team within WRNI. Ensure the team is balanced with the correct mix of relevant skills.

  • Review relevant framework agreements to ensure sub-contractors are providing the correct services. Involvement in the negotiation and production of specifications for frameworks.

  • Initiate new framework agreements where required (e.g. Concrete repair, pre-cast concrete elements)

  • There is a need to have a working knowledge of all current schemes via peer review and also on an ongoing consultation/interaction with discipline engineers/DMs TMs and PMs.

We're looking for:  

  • Have a good working knowledge of relevant current design standards and legislation, roll out to team where necessary. I.e. CDM, EUROCODES, BS, LOLER, DSEAR, PUWER, COSHH, NRSWA etc. Including all CIRIA BCA CS etc.

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil and/or Structural Engineering or other relevant subject.

  • A member of a relevant engineering institution i.e. ICE, IstructE.

  • Experience within the water industry particularly with compliance issues and treatment plant Operation with sound knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
