Department Overview:
As part of JCI’s Fire Protection Products, Technical Training serves internal and external customers through a variety of training and performance support offerings. Providing these offerings is possible due to a larger process that analyzes the needs of targeted learners and their companies, designing the offerings to meet business objectives, developing and delivering the content in the most effective learning format, distributing it through the most effective means and, finally, evaluating its effectiveness over time to drive continual improvement for increased positive business impact.

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for on-site supervision of select, but complete functions of the Technical Training department. This individual will develop strategy and annual plans to meet company growth requirements and changing training needs within its functional scope of responsibility.
As part of a larger Technical Services Team, the Technical Training Specialist, will organize and lead their training function to successfully implement an approved strategy.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead the reduction of risk in the workplace according to Tyco’s Zero Harm policies and objectives.
  • Evaluate, design and recommend alternative strategies and innovative approaches for delivering successful product training.
  • Build effective partnerships with the management of key groups within the company to identify training opportunities and support for cross-functional development and educational delivery efforts.
  • Forecast and anticipate longer-term training and development needs in advance of specific program requests to best plan for resource allocation and utilization.
  • Identify and organize training resources required to maximize the effectiveness of department training effectiveness. These include classroom facilities, technology equipment and software, team members, and strategic partnerships within Tyco and external resources.
  • Manage and enhance training process standards and content, presentation guidelines and instructional delivery methods, using a variety of methods. Communicate these standards for excellent professional practice to other company technical training functions.
  • Cross-train, qualify, and mentor trainers.

#external Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, technical communications, or business administration. Master’s Degree preferred.

A minimum of ten years of experience in corporate training and development function including sales training, product training, and professional skills development.
