Senior IT Technician - South Norfolk - Excellent package

Our South Norfolk client is seeking a Senior IT Technician to assume responsibility for the hardware, operating software, communications and technical services of the business.

The successful applicant will maintain and monitor all network, security and computer systems to meet the Company's current and future requirements and be responsible for management, maintenance and architecture of storage, virtualised environment, servers, network devices, backups and productivity tools. You will monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively, keeping the IT Manager informed of any technical issues affecting the business and recommending enhancements to improve day to day operations/maintain maximum performance. Test all changes to networks, hardware, software, and hosted applications and liaise with vendors, suppliers, distributors and contract consultants to procure hardware, software and services in line with business requirements at best market rates.

To be suitable for this role you will have experience of working in an IT technical support/helpdesk role and be able to demonstrate a wide-ranging experience with various software, hardware and peripherals as well as knowledge of mail servers, MS SQL and other server products. A strong grasp of all Windows Operating systems (desktop and server) as well as experience in configuring Windows domains/Active Directory including Group Policies is essential. You will also be able to use a variety of backup technologies and techniques - Arcserve UDP/D2D and have good networking knowledge (layer 3, VLans, STP, Cisco IOS, etc). Understanding & management of anti-virus solutions & technologies.

Ideally you will have Microsoft certification such as MCSA and a knowledge of MS SQL administration and firewall configuration and underlying principles. Configuration and management of DAS / NAS hardware and server virtualisation administration - Vmware, will be preferred as will an understanding of VOIP and Sharepoint Administration, Powershell, FTP, SSL, VPN, MDM, iOS and Application Based Firewalls.

The role calls for week-end on call cover on rota basis and technical cover/support as needed and a generous 'on-call allowance' is paid for this function.
