WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff is in need of a rail communications designer to support various clients and projects. The candidate will become part of WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff's growing Central Region rail group. This is a good opportunity to become involved in leading railroad and transit projects throughout North America, with a focus on projects in the Central states. Our firm supports a wide variety of railroad and transit communications design and construction projects, including those for agencies and organizations in Minneapolis, Chicago, and elsewhere. The work for this position would be performed in a client project office or WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff home office. Up to 10% travel required.

Responsibilities include:
      • Assist with design of rail communications systems and related equipment.
      • Support communications design being performed by other WSP - Parsons Brinckerhoff and subconsultant offices.
      • Assist project leader with project organization, ensuring that all work has been completed for a project within the allotted schedule.
      • Assist in coordinating work assignments and verify the completion of assigned projects.
      • Preparing construction cost estimates, drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
      • Preparing calculations to support the communications design, including the use of design and simulation software.
      • Review and verify that work completed meets criteria for design and CAD requirements as identified in the client's design standards and Quality process.
      • Assist in review of contractor and vendor product submittals.

Job Requirements
Education Required:
      • Minimum 2 year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
Experience/Skills Required:
      • 10 years experience with design of central control systems, SCADA, radio and telephone systems, CCTV, fare collection, train-to-wayside communications, and electrical systems
      • Experience in the design of communications systems is required, either in the railroad and transit industry
      • Ability to work independently and accurately under tight deadlines
      • Skillful attention to detail
      • Competent computer skills
      • Good cooperation and communications skills in fast-paced environments
      • Good attention to safety and quality requirements
Desired Qualifications:
      • Experience with train control systems
      • Microstation or Autocad drafting experience
      • 4-year bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
      • Professional Engineer registration

The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
