Serves as a subject matter expert supporting CENTCOM web information operations. Ensures program adherence to CENTCOM guidance; program quality standards; and cultural sensitivities while serving objective and theme directives set forth in taxonomy.
Performs highly specialized tasks using commercially available weblog analytics tools as well as customized software applications developed specifically for the program. Alerts team and supports diagnosis efforts for significant metric trends or anomalies.
Provides expertise to CENTCOM in the area of website information operations. Provides guidance and training to client staff on content strategies as well as the use of the numerous technical tools associated with website content approval; user-generated content approval; and web analytics tools. Assists the managing editors in the enforcement of contributor and editorial standards.
Applies expert knowledge and experience to serve as project lead for the CENTCOM program. Leads efforts to refine the program taxonomy and metrics collection effort; both critical to program success. Supervises the development of content schedules and integrates content plans with related CENTCOM plans and activities. Ensures customer guidance and approval is documented. Captures lessons learned and best practices.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technical and content developments affecting the CENTCOM AOR. Monitors the status and growth of information communication technologies to make recommendations for technological changes or improvements to program. Monitors issue and event coverage by other sources and assesses how program coverage compares in terms of approach; accuracy; thoroughness; and timeliness.
Supports business development activities; including exploring opportunities for Information Operations business development as well as providing technical input to related proposal efforts.
May also participate in development of the contributing writer/photographer network; program review presentations; and branch and executive briefings.
Bachelors Degree in a related discipline.
Masters Degree preferred.
Requires 10-15 years experience in journalism; media relations; international affairs; web publications; or related disciplines.
Familiarity with the politics and cultures of the region is required; proficiency in a regional language is a plus. Excellent communications skills are necessary; both verbal and written. Basic computer literacy is required: Microsoft Outlook; Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Web browser; proficiency with web analytics and social media is preferred. A SECRET clearance is required; TS is preferred. A selected candidate holding an S will be submitted for a TS/SCI.
