The systems engineer will develop scenarios and supporting documentation; based on scenario design requirements; for ground test events that represent a phased execution of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) while representing the National Team Systems Engineering. The system engineer will be required to work within a geographically distributed team and will have to support a geographically distributed customer. The systems engineer will be responsible for working with associated SE teams; Test Organizations and Element Program focals to ensure scenario development meets scenario design intent for system test events; including details of system capabilities; behaviors; scenarios; data collection and characterization points to support current and proposed BMDS functionality and architectures. The system engineer will also support System event assessment planning. The team's primary tasking will be in support of the development of deliverable SE products and plans and presentations; assessments of changes to the baseline while identifying alternative methods and solutions in order to maintain technical content.
Degree and experience in an engineering classification; mathematics or physics: Bachelor's; Master's or PhD.
10-20 years of directly related experience.
Candidate must be able to obtain or maintain a MINIMUM SECRET level security clearance. Required Qualifications: Knowledge of BMDS test planning and test events. Knowledge of System Engineering campaign and event design processes in support of system assessment; system level interface design and specifications is required. Emphasis should be placed upon system behavior and performance characterization of representative battle management and command and control functions and their associated information exchange requirements tied to specified performance metrics that are traditionally demonstrated in system level test events. Candidate must be proficient in developing analytical tools that can automate various aspects of the scenario design process and that can provide an analytical basis for scenario selections that meet the scenario design requirements. Desired Qualifications: Candidates should have a strong systems engineering background; demonstrated collaboration and presentation skills and be able to perform in a geographically distributed team environment. Additionally; candidate should possess a familiarity of the Missile Defense program; a strong background with Matlab; Excel; system analysis; and system level testing. Knowledge of BMDS test planning to include ground test design on a missile defense program. Knowledge of BMDS test planning to include flight test design on a missile defense program. Demonstrated leadership of small teams.
