Job Description

We are currently looking for a seasoned Senior Systems Architect for our customer in supporting our Email Platform Services team. You will lead the team of 20 Systems Engineers and administrators providing collaboration messaging communication systems across the intelligence community. You will provide leadership for the team as a front-line manager; setting and establishing goals and objectives for the team, and running day-to-day operations across the group. You will also be responsible for identifying system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycle from concept to disposal. Work Hours: Must cover core hours from 0900 - 1500.

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

1. Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design; I/O design; firmware development; model formulation; manufacturing and development cost projections; computer architecture analysis and design; and analog or digital systems engineering.

2. Performs systems modeling; simulation; and analysis.

3. Plans upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.

4. Develops documentation on new or existing systems.

5. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

6. Identifies; analyzes; and resolves system problems.

7. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

8. Determines system specifications; input/output processes; and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

9. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.

10. May serve as a technical team or task lead.

11. Serves as liaison with clients; participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

13. Participates in special projects as required.


1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science; Engineering or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical training; or work/military experience.

2. Masters Degree preferred.


10-15 years of related systems engineering experience.

Contract Required:

  • Must have 8+ years' experience in systems architect role

  • Proven expertise with core Microsoft Windows enterprise components: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS

  • Experience with MS server platforms such as Server 2008 R2 or Server 2012 R2

  • Experience with Enterprise storage technologies

  • Experience with IBM Notes/Domino Engineering and Administration, Sametime

  • Proven experience and knowledge of large and complex physical networks and network operating systems

  • Must have managed at least a 5 person team

  • Must understand staffing, interviewing processes

Contract Desired Skills:

  • Experience managing software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Apply business process improvement practices to re-engineer methodologies and principles and business process modernization projects.

  • Experience with 32 and 64 bit architectures

  • Prior experience in scripting languages is desired (i.e., Microsoft Powershell, Java scripting, VB, C++, etc.)

  • Microsoft Lync 2010/2013

  • Forefront Identity Manager (FIM)

  • Experience with Exchange 2010/2013

Certifications: MCSE and/or MCSA desired.
