Job Description

Responsible for the analysis, administration and support of voice, video, and/or data communications networks.

1. Analyzes, administers and maintains voice, video, and/or data communications networks.

2. Manages the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks.

3. Maintains network security and ensures compliance with security polices and procedures.

4. Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.

5. Participates in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.

6. Participates in and may lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.

7. Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.

8. Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

9. Provides advice and training to end-users.

10. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.

11. Provides work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and may have supervisory responsibilities.

12. May serve as a technical team or task leader.

13. Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.

14. Participates in special projects as required.

Contract requires:

  • Follow all EIA/TIA Industry Standards, Air Force Standards, Wright-Patterson AFB Base Facility Standards, Tempest Regulations, and customer policies, processes and procedures.

  • Maintain networking equipment across multiple networks.

  • Install networking equipment that is OEM Certified.

  • Ensure networking equipment is connected to specific security levels, documented and labeled as prescribed to the customer Network Installation Standards

  • R emove unused network cabling following all applicable standards and policies.

  • D ocument facility work being performed using the Service and Incident Request system (i.e. Microsoft System Center Service Manager).

  • D ocument cabling according to applicable standards and processes.

  • P rovide input to Daily Logs, Weekly Reports, and Monthly Reports on all network tasks performed, man hours used and parts used.

  • Maintain Communications Equipment Rooms to ensure all standards are followed.

  • L abel and document all installations in accordance with prescribed practices.

  • Perform hardware configurations/installations in accordance with applicable standards.

  • Troubleshoot network issues.

  • I dentify cabling issues/breaks

  • R e-terminate fiber optics and cat5/cat6 cabling.

  • Repair and maintain network equipment.

  • P rovide monthly functional area reports summarizing work accomplished, work planned in next month and important issues occurring during the month.


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.


10-15 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.

Contract requires:

  • Possess DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification.

  • Experience in Data Center and Computer Equipment Rooms installation

  • At least 12 years of experience as a Network Support Technician which includes troubleshooting and resolving problems.

  • At least six years of experience in fiber optic cable installation, maintenance and repair.

  • Possess a Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.

  • Capable of climbing ladders, lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds.
