Engineering Degree BEng (Hons) in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering.
Master's Degree or higher and Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
10 years of experience in aircraft and/or embedded software engineering.
A working knowledge of international regulation and policy for military and civil aviation as well as International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Research, design and develop software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, for the RSAF operated aircraft and associated support equipment, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis.
Analyse software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
Work with other engineering disciplines and management team to collectively meet requirements.
Coordinate with project work teams to ensure adherence to policies, achievement of quality targets and delivery on schedule milestones.
Years of experience in applying subject or discipline knowledge in the design, development and management of aircraft software. In addition, experience in applying tools and techniques (for example, tool use, use of software packages or mainframe systems).
Experience in senior engineering management with a thorough knowledge of engineering authority processes.
Progressive experience in design and development of aircraft software engineering projects required. Knowledge of software engineering applications of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) aircraft platforms, specifically the types of fighter, transport, rotatory, and/or unmanned aircraft systems.
Must be able to develop and integrate concepts that involve requirements, design, prototyping, production, testing, training and logistics support in all phases of the weapon system life cycle, including all aspects of technical program that involve trade-off of performance, life-cycle cost, risk, producibility, supportability, testability and other engineering requirements.
Review and recommend RSAF authorizations of software engineering modifications. Progress approval of improvement initiatives through external design organisations and technical authorities.
Support RSAF officers at meetings and participate in design and programme management reviews.
The jobholder will be required to produce reports, testing procedures, programs, documentation, presentations and briefings in detail from data which he will be responsible for defining and collecting. He will be required to visit vendor facilities and RSAF Bases to conduct research into software engineering issues.
