XLVets Training Services are looking for a Business Development and Operations Manager based in Ripon, North Yorkshire, and would be interested to hear from you if you have a strong background in developing and delivering opportunities, can deliver a focused, strategic perspective and have the leadership skills to grow and support the team. Purpose To lead the successful development of XLVets Training Services Ltd by working with the Board to create an effective business plan and ensuring its efficient implementation. Identifying and realizing new revenue streams Take responsibility for the performance, P&L and direction of the organisation, and be accountable to the Board of Directors Managing the resources of a small operations team to deliver training organisation of the highest calibre to the veterinary, agricultural and equine industries To identify and develop training opportunities out with the primary sector and into other professional services sectors To be an ambassador for the business within the industry Organisational Structure The BDOM will report to the Board of XLVet Training Services Ltd which comprises One independent elected Chairperson One Director appointed by RAFT Ltd One Director appointed by Sophie Throup Two Directors appointed by XLVet UK Ltd Key Responsibilities of the Role To be accountable to the Board of Directors and the shareholders of the company for the performance of the company. To report regularly to the Board keeping it informed of how the company is doing. The Board will offer suggestions and ideas to the BDOM about how to improve the company; it is the BDOM's responsibility to implement and further develop these ideas. To work in a collaborative manner with the board of directors, drawing on their skills and experience for the benefit of the company. To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the company in setting, agreeing and achieving the annual budget and scorecard objectives To take a longer term view in the design, development and implementation of the strategic plan for the company in the most cost effective and time efficient manner To lead the company and develop a corporate culture that develops and harnesses the talents of its employees. Using mentoring and motivation, to deliver higher performance of all employees and associated contractors. To manage and optimize the effectiveness of the staff, the value in the relationship with customers, the offerings from suppliers, the company's assets and all other company resources in order to increase its profitability and efficient achievement of all score card objectives. To ensure succession planning for all senior positions that continually strengthens the team and manage any unexpected loss of key personnel To be an ambassador for the business and represent all XLVet Training Services products as relevant at key customer and industry events To keep up to date and ensure that the team has the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfill the role. To foster linkages and relationships with the XLVet sector Executives, the XLVet UK operations team, the XLVet UK Board and the sector steering and governance groups to ensure a clear and two way flow of information between this group and the Board. Evaluate, with the rest of the Board, the performance of the business and the team against the agreed objectives and continually consider ways in which progress can be improved; made more effective and efficient. Ensure timely and effective communication with all stakeholders: including quarterly reporting to the XLVet UK Ltd and RAFT Ltd boards. Key Performance Indicators Progress against the yearly Balanced Scorecard Objectives as set by the Board of XLVet Training Services Ltd Key fiscal targets including Cash flow, Profit and Loss and balance sheet as defined in the annual balanced scorecard objectives. A member of an effective team, as demonstrated by a sustained high positive Net Promoter Score from customers and shareholders Ensuring all business programmes are completed to a standard that reflects positively on the XLVet Brand in terms of benefit, quality and ethical principles. Compliance with Advertising Standards, Royal College regulations and professional marketing guidelines. A highly motivated operations team working to a consistently high standard and meeting customer needs - measured by team and customer feedback. Sound, effective, timely and accurate reporting and controls to the Board and staff. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Degree holder essential; further business qualifications desirable Experience of identifying opportunities and seeing them through to delivery. A drive to innovate and develop new markets Commercially being part of an effective business leadership team Entrepreneurial attributes and market aware with good understanding of consumer motivations Appreciation and sound working knowledge of IT systems and digital communication An experienced and credible communicator with ability to inspire confidence at Board level, operations team and in third parties An interest in skills development and its role within the veterinary marketplace Sound administrative skills in all standard office IT functions Key Behaviours Accountability - Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions and demonstrates commitment to accomplish work in an ethical, efficient and cost-effective manner Adaptability - Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment. Location, Working Hours and Salary The team are based in Ripon in North Yorkshire, though the role is likely to require UK based travel.
