We were established over 55 years ago when a group of Thunder Bay area farmers agreed to combine their buying power to receive better pricing. Since then, the Co-op has been opened to the public and begun expansions in order to better serve farmers, home-owners and summer campers in Northwestern Ontario.
Today we offer an amazing variety of tested-and-true products for homes, summer camps and farms, at pricing approved by cost-conscious farmers.
The Board of Directors are looking for a manager to be responsible for the overall management of the Co-op. The successful candidate will be able to enhance customer and member satisfaction, meet sales and profitability goals, and manage staff effectively.
serve our coop members by becoming familiar with their needs for feed, fertilizer, hardware, etc and making them available in a well maintained inventory with competitive prices
meet sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring, and providing feedback to sales staff
ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service
complete and ensure compliance with policies and procedure as set in place by the Board of Directors
maintain outstanding store, warehouse, fertilizer plant, grain storage bins, and yard appearance and schedule maintenance of equipment involved
report to the Board of Directors and members on buying trends, customer needs, profits, etc.
work in conjunction with the Board to create innovative ideas to increase market of goods sold
conduct personnel performance appraisals to assess training needs in conjunction with the Board
deal with all issues that arise from staff or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.) and bring to the board as needed
be a shining example of good behaviour and high performance
train or be trained in management skills
safety training for staff
work extra hours in peak season
3+ years of experience as a farm co-op manager an asset
knowledge of cropping needs and farming operations
powerful leadership skills and business orientation
customer and membership management skills
strong organizational skills
good communication and interpersonal skills
