Middleware Engineer - Permanent - IMB MQ / TWS

Cutting edge technically focused organisation in the financial services industry are currently looking for an experienced Middleware Engineer to provide both live operational support and project infrastructure support activities.

Essential skills of Middleware Engineer:
IBM MQ (7,8)
IBM Tivoli workload scheduler
Apache HTTP Server Administration
Troubleshooting Middleware / Java Environments
Unix (Preferably Solaris)
Shell Scripting
Experience of the above tool set in a J2EE development environment.
J2EE build and deployment processes
Experience in a demanding, high availability environment

Desirable skills of Middleware Engineer:
Oracle Enterprise Management (OEM)
Swift Administration (Swift Alliance and Swift Gateway)
Scripting in Python / Jython
Understanding of ITIL Practices
Experience of working in leading edge development environments would be advantageous.

Main duties
The Middleware Engineer will be required to deliver an outstanding level of Middleware Administration support across all live systems.
Deliver, to demanding timescales, project work including the build or enhancement of Middleware Environments
Implement and test Middleware installs and upgrades.
Provide strategy guidance and deliver future Middleware solutions.
Provide technical design in the delivery of infrastructure and development projects.
Perform and coordinate advanced Middleware troubleshooting, analysis and performance monitoring with other technical departments
Provide technical support for production systems on a 7 x 24 basis
Working Closely & Effectively with other operational teams for the resolution of incidents and problems.
Participate with ongoing continuous service improvement programmes to drive process improvements and gain efficiencies through review of appropriate practices, standards and guidelines.
Document and manage change to existing systems.
Mentor less experienced team members
