Role: Business Development Manager

Salary: £50k-£60k plus package

Location: Southwark & home based, covering some London boroughs, South East down to the South Coast

My client are a fast growing top 10 UK housing and construction company. They design, build, refurbish and regenerate places to improve economic and social outcomes for people. Each year they build more than 4,500 new homes, have repaired and refurbished over 10,000 empty houses and completed over 250,000 responsive repairs.

The main purpose of this role is to build client and key influencer relationships within the relevant geographical area of responsibility, in order to create opportunities that produce business in line with the regional financial plan.

Key Accountabilities

* To work with the Regeneration Director to deliver the regional budget
* To ensure all leads are reported centrally and entered into the pipeline
* Ensuring pipeline is regularly updated as new information becomes available
* To be responsible for developing and following a client visitation plan
* Responsible for developing the initial bid winning/pursuit plan
* To hold meetings where necessary to discuss all opportunities from leads, PQQ's and tenders with the relevant individuals
* To report at monthly meetings on current progress against budget
* Produce annual business development plan including market research on new and emerging markets etc
* To be responsible for ensuring client feedback is supplied regarding ongoing contracts
* To be responsible for finding and developing leads through relationships with clients, consultants, colleagues, supply chain and any other potential route
* To provide intelligence regarding future OJEU's, tenders and negotiation opportunities
* To stay involved as the opportunity moves through PQQ process, tender and quality bid
* To follow up with clients after submission if PQQ's and tenders to obtain feedback and results
* To maintain appropriate contact with clients and consultants after contracts are secured, or lost, to maximise future opportunities
* Any other reasonable management request
* To advise on appropriateness and level of participation of business events, marketing events and conferences both regionally and for the group
* To work with the Business Strategy Manager to identify and implements robust local strategies to develop new and existing clients
* Develop and co-ordinate strategies to maximize potential with all stakeholders including, clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
* To advise on client and key influencer relationships and the appropriate level of service required at regional and group level

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Skills and abilities

High level of interpersonal skills

Good at developing relationships with operational leaders

Able to communicate at all levels

Proven written, communication and presentation skills


Industry knowledge is preferable but not essential.

Interview and presentation skills
