Play your part in a world-class team

There’s a real family feel to our teams. Want to join?
At BP, technicians cover a diverse range of roles. Operating at different levels across the organisation and in many different working environments, technicians are at the heart of what we do.

And whatever their role within the business, our technicians help, guide and support those around them and in turn are supported by their colleagues. At BP, our ethos is that every employee is made to feel welcomed, valued and treated as part of the team from day one.

To better understand how an offshore technicianexperiences life at BP, we had a chat with Joanie, Ryan and Geoff. When talking about their time at BP, they all agreed with Joanie that, ‘At BP, everyone has something to add to the team. Given our industry, trust plays an essential role and we rely upon the expertise of our colleagues, and their commitment to doing things right.’‘I would say it’s about having a ‘hands-on’ attitude, and a belief that we can tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges together,’ Ryan added.

The technicians also talked about how they look forward to getting back together after spending time onshore. Geoff said, ‘It’s great coming back to the same place and catching-up with your team and finding out what they’ve been up too. It surprises some people, but it’s a nice, comfortable environment to work in and its definitely improved by the sense of team spirit.’

As a trainee process technician, Joanie is on a path to becoming an experienced leader at BP. When asked what surprised her the most about her time at BP, she says, ‘I thought it may be challenging to work in a traditionally male-dominated role but that’s not the case. I receive plenty of guidance and it helps that I have a supportive mentor. Plus, I have the opportunity to attend networking events for women in the energy industry from all over the world.’
