Reporting to the Chief Engineer at the Bay Adelaide Centre and working within a team environment, this position performs and assists in maintenance routines on building equipment. This role is responsible for attending to Tenant service requests for light bulb replacement, minor plumbing requests, mechanical repairs, blind repairs and assisting the Building Operators and trades as requested. Performing regular preventative maintenance routines on building equipment and washroom deficiencies are also required. This position demands flexibility and the ability to multi-task while maintaining a positive and cooperative work attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responds to Tenant requests related to plumbing and lighting: burnt out lights, clogged toilets, soap dispensers, etc.
  • Performs washroom inspections and deficiency repairs: leaking faucets, flushometer adjustments, stall door lock replacements, napkin dispenser repairs, etc.
  • Changes filters on fans located throughout the complex based on predetermined frequencies
  • Cleans and maintains workshop, mechanical rooms, inventory rooms, etc.
  • Performs preventative maintenance routines on building equipment
  • Assists trades such as plumbers, electricians and mechanics
  • Responsible for the order, pickup and delivery of lamps for tenants as requested
  • Hours of work will be from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:

The successful candidate will be service oriented with excellent communication skills. This position requires an individual who can consistently demonstrate empathy and courtesy in all customer interactions. Also, must be able to communicate a sincere desire to contribute to tenant satisfaction by taking personal responsibility to resolve tenant concerns. Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and in a team setting and is open to learning from others. This individual will have a positive attitude and demonstrates the highest standards of professionalism including maintaining a professional image.

EXPERIENCE & TECHINCAL SKILLS:

  • Some general building maintenance experience would be preferred: working with pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, all air handling equipment and water treatment practices would be an asset
  • Must have a technical aptitude as most of the responsibilities involve working with sophisticated equipment and electrical circuits
  • Must be able to work with power tools and have a “hands on” mechanical skill set
  • Able to work on a 6 to 14 foot step ladder

EDUCATION/DESIGNATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Completion of Secondary education is required
  • Has successfully completed or currently working towards BES Operator Class II certification; or is willing to commit to obtaining this certification within the first two years
