As Director, Health & Safety , you will report to the Vice-President, Quality & OHS, and will be responsible for establishing and deploying health and safety (OHS) programs, as well as advancing all Canadian operations with regards to their OHS culture. In addition to bring experience and technical expertise to prevention programs, you will ensure the setting of OHS priorities based on performance and trends on defined key indicators. In collaboration with your prevention team and the resources deployed in the field, you will also be responsible for increasing the ownership and continuous improvement approach, as well as promote OHS behaviors at the forefront. Finally, you will ensure the compliance of the programs with legal OHS requirements as well as Agropur's OHS standards and policies.

Main responsibilities :

  • Demonstrate leadership in all areas of Health and Safety, influencing, supporting, and challenging the prioritization and deployment of OHS programs and requirements;

  • Identify applicable OHS legislation, advise management on compliance, and develop/deliver plans to ensure compliance;

  • Develop key performance indicators and monitor site trends in order to improve OHS performance (proactive and predictive management);

  • Develop and communicate strategies, annual improvement plans, and targets to be put in place in terms of the OHS performance program and culture;

  • Ensure the development of OHS standards, programs, and tools in accordance with the requirements and best practices of the industry;

  • Ensure the monitoring, diagnosis, and performance of sites relating to the application of prevention programs and measures;

  • Ensure that accident investigations are carried out without delay and that they include appropriate analysis of the root causes and measures for improvement and sustainable prevention;

  • Oversee the implementation of the elements of the OHS pillar from the Agropur operations system (AOS) as well as servant leadership values;

  • Ensure the deployment and implementation of processes for the management of technological platforms and the optimal use of them (AIC, Toxyscan, Brady, Cognibox, Sharepoint, Alchemia / Workday, Kanva, etc.)

  • Lead the Pan-Canadian OHS team responsible for supporting transformation and excellence in OHS across all manufacturing sites, warehouses, and in transportation services.

  • Actively participate in sectoral OHS discussions, share best practices and promote standardization in methods and tools

  • Build OHS organizational capabilities, ensuring that the required OHS specialization skills are in place, and mentoring current/future OHS professionals in their development.

  • Represent the organization with government health and safety authorities.

  • Provide technical advice and guidance to the CH Ops team in all OHS areas.

  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, etc.)

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including people management in positions related to occupational health & safety or industrial hygiene

  • OHS technical expertise (risk analysis, fundamental programs i.e. lockout/tag out, confined space, work at height, emergency planning, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of applicable national, provincial, and local laws and standards

  • Significant experience in establishing and maintaining positive relationships internally and externally

  • Experience in working effectively in complex matrix organizations, with multi-site management;

  • Strong leadership skills, ability to generate commitment and mobilize teams;

  • Bilingualism in English and French is mandatory

  • This position requires travel to our industrial sites across Canada (approximately 30% of the time). Therestofthetimewillbedividedbetweentelework and occasional visits attheoffice.
