Our client is one of the largest marine general contractors in Canada. They have built many of the major marine facilities along the coastline and inland waters of British Columbia. They are looking for a motivated individual who is committed to growing their professional career while gaining valuable knowledge and experience through a variety of assignments. Responsibilities Responsibilities Organize estimating team(s) to review plans and specifications, prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness Perform risk and contract management responsibilities as required Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and/or availability of materials Monitor client addendum and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period References historical cost and production to current cost estimates Ability to understand and advise on overall construction plan, including schedule, constructability and logistics, together with their impact on project costs. Review and comment on changes in specifications and plans, work techniques and materials Verify that all estimates conform with applicable codes and project specifications, drawings and standards Review final estimate Follow awarded contracts as assigned: may include estimating extra work items, change orders and advice on major changes in scope of work Upon project completion, conduct debriefing with estimating, engineering and production teams to discuss positive aspects and lessons learned of the project Monitor actual cost to estimated cost Strong commitment to Health, Safety & Environment Qualifications / Requirements 15 yrs+ of experience in heavy civil & marine construction projects such as piers, bridges, docks, berths, dredging, etc. and will have a track record of successfully bidding and winning large-scale projects Sc, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar Dredging experience is an asset Use of computer software: Excel, HeavyBid, AutoCAD & MS Project Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written Proven background in successful project awards on bids that have been successfully delivered across the heavy civil market Knowledge and understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues.
