Lead Road Design Engineer
The Lead Road Design Engineer will support our Ontario Transportation group by specifically growing our Ottawa practice on projects involving urban and rural roads/intersections, and integrated design projects for storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains and drainage works. The Lead Engineer will work on exciting projects with staff from across Ontario and Canada using state-of-the-art business communication tools.
The successful candidate may be required to work on exciting projects with staff across Ontario and Canada using state-of-the-art business communication tools (some travel may be required). Specific responsibilities include: Lead the development of conceptual and detailed design of municipal civil projects related to local and regional roadway construction/reconstruction, including rural and urban roads, sewers, watermains, drainage, etc. Apply CAD/Civil 3D or InRoads/Microstation knowledge to municipal engineering and road construction/reconstruction projects from concept to completion Lead the preparation of detailed design drawings and contract documents and specifications for project tendering Lead the preparation of tender quantities and construction cost estimates Lead the completion of technical design reports and studies Lead the completion of applications for permits and approvals Manage project budgets and schedules Manage existing and potential customer relationships, and effectively assess customer needs Ability to prepare, lead or assist in the preparation of proposals
Profile P.Eng. designation (PEO) Minimum 8 years of experience with municipal road design in Ontario, preferably with the City of Ottawa Knowledge of applicable design standards and guidelines, including those published by TAC, MTO, the City of Ottawa and the NCC Strong working knowledge of various software packages (e.g. Office 365, including Word and Excel spreadsheets) asset Ability to manage and take a high degree of ownership to prioritize several assignments at one time, in order to deliver on time and within budget Highly meticulous nature and strong attention to detail Experience working as a member of multi-disciplinary design teams (asset) Construction site experience (asset) Excellent communication skills – written and verbal Ability to work among a team environment Some travel may be required
