Under the guidance of a senior EMC/Compliance specialist, work closely with electrical and mechanical design teams to identify risks and design solutions for product-level EMC and safety compliance. This includes design, documentation and marking requirements to satisfy the dependencies for regulatory/commercial conformance.
General Activities Draw on analytical skills and software tools (where appropriate) to predict/anticipate EMC design risks and propose design solutions Work closely with product development primes to scope and plan test programs to demonstrate compliance to applicable EMC, safety and commercial compliance Work closely with test partners during the execution of compliance test programs to demonstrate compliance and obtain reports/certifications Troubleshoot, isolate and identify remedies for EMC non-compliance issues that arise during compliance testing Assist sales and field support personnel with customer issues related to non-compliance, bid proposals/responses and conformity assessment
Collaboration with stakeholders Design teams – electrical, mechanical, thermal, industrial design Account and system engineering teams supporting customers External test facilities and EMC/safety experts
Experience Working knowledge of global/international EMC standards in the ITE and Telecom Networking space is required: CISPR 32 / EN 55032, CISPR 35 / EN55035, CISPR 24 / EN 55024, FCC Part 15, ICES-003, ETSI EN 300 386, IEC/EN 61000-X-Y Hardware design experience in electrical and mechanical design to mitigate EMC issues is required Working knowledge of ITE product safety standards is preferred: IEC/UL/EN 60950-1, IEC/EN 60825-1, IEC/EN 60825-2 Working knowledge of various country approvals, regulatory marks and homologation processes is preferred Familiarity with commercial standards/specifications in the telecom networking space is preferred: Telcordia GR-63-CORE, Telcordia GR-1089-CORE, ETSI EN 300 019-X-Y, ETSI EN 300 132-Y Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are essential Familiarity with communication protocols (OTN, Ethernet, SONET, Fiber Channel) is preferred Familiarity with EMC test instrumentation (e.g. Spectrum analyzers, RF receivers, ESD test equipment) and measurement devices (antennas, coupling devices, probes) to undertake engineering investigations of EM behavior Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering 10+ years’ experience
