Project Engineer – Water and Wastewater Treatment
The Project Engineer – Water and Wastewater Treatment is a leader and team-builder who will play a critical role in CIMA+’s strategic growth. The Project Engineer – Water and Wastewater Treatment will be responsible for building, managing, and expanding the municipal water and wastewater projects in Western Canada for a well-established, multidisciplinary, Canadian engineering firm with expanding operations.
Responsibilities Build, manage, lead and mentor professional staff Complete conceptual and detailed design of projects related to water and wastewater supply, treatment, pumping, storage, distribution and collection Manage project budgets/schedules and ensure adequate staff on-hand to execute projects Participate in company presentation and promotion to various municipal and regional clients Support major opportunity pursuits (including design-build/P3) and preparation of proposals. Develop and foster strong client relationships Actively involved in business development activities leading to the award of contracts. This includes client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, oral presentations, and contract negotiation consistent with established business development processes. Coordinate design team activities, contract document preparation and tendering Process and instrumentation drawings (P&ID) for different projects Assessment of different wastewater treatment technologies and water re-use options Equipment performance evaluation and recommendation Evaluate different applicable policies and regulations for determining effluent standards and proposing an effluent standard suitable for projects Liaise with clients, government and regulatory authorities to address their needs/comments, and guide a project through approvals processes Prepare environmental assessments/master plans, design briefs, reports, technical specifications and approvals for water and wastewater projects
Profile A minimum of 20 years working in projects in a municipal water/wastewater environment– progressive technical experience leading the design and a strong understanding of treatment processes, hydraulics, modelling software, design standards and contract specifications in the city of Calgary Exceptional communication and presentation skills A strong command of the English language (written and verbal) Licensed by an Association of Professional Engineers as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in province of Alberta A large network of Client and Industry contacts specifically within the city of Calgary
