Senior Process Engineer
The mission of the Process Engineer is to provide design support to multidisciplinary teams for brownfield and greenfield
projects as well as for engineering studies (opportunity, scoping, pre-FEED, optimization, etc). We are excited to have someone join our team in Calgary or Edmonton, to work on multi‐disciplinary projects and manage engineering studies.
Responsibilities Prepare process flow diagrams and P&IDs Contribute to technical review and approval of process data provided to line lists (Line Designation Tables), tie-point lists and miscellaneous datasheets (instruments, piping accessories and equipment), mass and heat balance calculations, hydraulic and drainage calculations, pressure and vacuum relief calculations, piping and equipment sizing, process design criteria and technical notes (reporting process calculation results) Prepare the process narratives Participate to Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) – such as What If, HAZOP, LOPA, etc. Develop new calculation programs (mainly in Excel) Write report for multi-disciplinary projects, coordination with other disciplines Participate to design reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, etc. Prepare presentation material and make presentations at design review meetings Participate to proposal writing and engineering hours estimate
Profile Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering Registered member with APEGA More than 10 years of experience with process engineering work, minimum of 6 years for an engineering firm and minimum 5 years in a plant environment Experience in coaching junior and intermediate engineers Experience with process calculations such as for Newtonian fluids and slurries, hydraulic, drainage, pressure relief and vacuum relief calculations Experience in conceptual process design, namely in the oil and gas, oil sands (tailings) and energy industries Process experience in different industries such as mining, chemical, or pulp and paper Very good understanding of process control systems Excellent communication and writing skills in English Familiar with codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI/HI and CSA Computer literate within Microsoft Office and Pipe-Flo, Hysys and/or VMG Experience as a PHA facilitator Experience with transient analysis using AFT Impulse Experience with energy efficiency studies and GHG calculations Computer literate within Cadsim Plus and/or Wingems Bilingual French-English (speaking and writing)
