Our client in Waterloo is looking for a Team Lead Java Developer to join their growing team in Waterloo. For this role a minimum 2-4 years of team lead experience leading a team of 3-5 people as well as 5 years working experience as a SR Java software developer is required. This is a permanent role as a Team Lead / Java Developer you will have experience leading a small team as well as experience with algorithms and how to apply them to real world applications including porting algorithms from desktop platform to cloud-based platforms. You will also be working on high throughput, high scalability cloud platforms.
•Team Lead experience, leading teams of 2+ people
•5+ years experience working experience with Java as a software developer
•5+ years of experience working on production and consumer facing Java applications.
• 3-5 years experience with algorithms and knowing how to apply them to real world applications and port from desktop to cloud based platforms
• 5 years experience with object-oriented design, implementations as well as design patterns
• Experience with streams and reactive programming in Java.
•Experience working on high quality, high performance, high concurrency and distributed software systems.
•Current, hands-on Java development knowledge with asynchronous server-side technologies such as Play, Vertx, Akka etc a BONUS
•Experience working with large amount of data and replicated/distributed database systems an asset
•Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with our team members efficiently.
•Experience working on teams using agile development techniques.
•Desire to learn latest technologies and apply them to improve your development practice.
•Working experience with MongoDB and/or Cassandra a BONUS
• Self motivated and work well individually and or with a team
• Can communicate effectively and efficiently
•Knowledge of bioinformatics or proteomics a bonus
