Telecommunication Structure Technician (Inspector and CAD operator)


The Telecommunication Structure Technician’s mission is to support the group as a site inspector and CAD operator. It implies involvement in all aspect of project delivery related to telecommunication structures (guyed, self-support and monopole towers, rooftops, specialized structures, etc.)


  • Perform inspections and surveys of telecommunication sites, which necessitate structure ascension
  • Plan and organize the inspections, including documentation preparation, coordination of access and schedule with clients, safety and measuring equipment verification, travel arrangements, etc.
  • Ensure conformity with drawings, specification and procedures during the inspections
  • Ensure conformity with Standards and client specific procedures
  • Produce technical reports and deficiency reports of the inspected structures
  • Prepare and check detailed engineering drawings and as-built drawings in compliance with CAD design standards and guidelines, including client specification manuals
  • Provide support for preparation of proposals
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Profile

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering / Architectural Science from an accredited College
  • Member of OACETT, Certified Engineering Technician or Certified Technologist, in good standing
  • Certification for Working at height and Tower Rescue (an asset)
  • Certification in Standard First Aid (an asset)
  • Minimum 3 years of Experience in Telecommunication Structure and Consulting Engineering environment. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Capability of working at height under various meteorological conditions
  • Willing to work on a combination of field and office work. Travel will be required on ad-hoc basis.
  • Knowledge of PPE safety equipment handling
  • Valid (G-Level) Ontario Driver's License
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software
  • Knowledge of CSA S37, CSA S16, and NBCC (an asset)
  • Knowledge of building electrical and mechanical systems and concepts (an asset)
  • Knowledge of MS Office 365 and Acrobat Adobe
  • Verbal and written communication skills (English and French an asset)
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and the ability to manage many projects simultaneously
